Laws regarding undesignated nests where one bird flew into a different nest. What if one flew back to the original? What if there are nests of many women and birds fly from one to the other? The mishna mentions a few other laws of mixtures. One can bring turtle doves or pigeons but not a combination of both. What if one did a combination? What if a woman brings a bird and dies before she brings the second? Are her heirs responsible to bring the second one?

At the time, I thought, I would like to start with the next cycle – listening to a podcast at different times of day makes it possible. After experiences over the years of asking to join gemara shiurim for men and either being refused by the maggid shiur or being the only women there, sometimes behind a mechitza, I found out about Hadran sometime during the tail end of Masechet Shabbat, I think. I had been intimidated by those who said that I needed to study Talmud in a traditional way with a chevruta, but I decided the learning was more important to me than the method. Years ago, I attended the local Siyum HaShas with my high school class. It was inspiring! Through that cycle and the next one, I studied masekhtot on my own and then did “daf yomi practice.” The amazing Hadran Siyum HaShas event firmed my resolve to “really do” Daf Yomi this time. I was moved to tears by the Hadran Siyyum HaShas. I have learned Torah all my life, but never connected to learning Gemara on a regular basis until then. Seeing the sheer joy Talmud Torah at the siyyum, I felt compelled to be part of it, and I haven’t missed a day!
It’s not always easy, but it is so worthwhile, and it has strengthened my love of learning. It is part of my life now.
